Thirty One - Jana Kramer

Well, this album is shaping up to be nothing more than absolutely flawless!! Jana just simply kills it - Again! After her debut album came out I was speechless, this was the beautiful woman who played the amazing Alex Dupre on One Tree Hill. She was just amazing as an actress, she played such emotional scenes and did such a great job - especially for a character that was introduced so late into the show after the other characters were already well established. But jana did it, she commanded the camera and the attention with her amazing skills and jaw dropping good looks. However, don' think for a second that she is merely only a breath taking beauty and an amazingly talented actress - She also has one hell of a voice!!!

The debut album entitled 'Jana Kramer' was amazing - especially for a first effort, it had me laughing along and cheering for songs like 'What I love about your love' and 'I hope it rains'. And then it had me close to tears with tracks like - 'I won't give up' and 'Why you wanna'. It showcased her incredible vocal talent and vast array of emotions in such a great way.

So far the follow up album - 'Thirty One' has blown her first album away in terms of greatness (for me at least) - Don't get me wrong I loved the first album, but this follow up is so much more passionate and real. The songs are unrelenting and so fiery, I love them. So far only - 'Bullet', 'Boomerang', 'Circles', 'Love' and 'I got the boy' have been released - the latter two having been previously released as separate singles for quite some time now - but the three new tracks are unstoppable and amazing - Just like Jana. I cannot wait for the full album - It is sure to be an album I have on repeat for weeks!!

Stand By You- Rachel Platten

For the love of all that is sacred - If you haven't heard it already, then, for the love of God go and search for it now! Rachel Platten 's second single - Stand By You - the follow up to her amazing first single - Fight Song - is just as amazing and lives up to all of the expectations I had for it following how much I loved the first single.

It's uplifting, happy and ever so touching. Listen. Fall in love. Repeat. Can't wait for the entire album <3

And here we are, back at the beginning.

It feels almost unimaginable to me that just over four years have passed since I last updated this blog. Four whole years - Where on earth does the time go these days?!

Either way, somehow I found my way back here. I found my way back here after two failed relationships which came to terrible ends, and then finding my one true soul mate and getting engaged. A relocation from Warwickshire to Devon, and then another from Devon to Essex. A new job - followed by a complete career change. Many sleepless depressed nights, many amazing drunken evenings spent in the company of those that I love most in this world.

All throughout all of this there has been but one constant in my life, one true real love. Music. And now I am back here, in a way back at the beginning. This was my first proper venture into blogging and something which I had, in all truth, completely forgotten about and shelved during the past four years of ups and downs.

Now here we are, the better part of four years later, and I am back here, at the start - wanting to once again spread my love of music with anyone who may be interested and everyone who visits this page.

Stick with me - I promise I won't leave this place again, at least not any time soon.

All my love, Tom <3 xo

Are you as excited as I am right now ... I can't wait! Rumored tracks to be featured on this album are as follows: 'Hey Hey Hey (We're All Gonna Die)' and 'Platform Fire' which are tracks they have played at a few live performances.

Andy and the guys are also hitting the road to headline various gigs mid June through mid July all across America and Canada and will be returning to headline another twenty or so concerts in August with Guster!

Spotlight On: Fefe Dobson

OK guys here's one for you, have you heard of Fefe Dobson? No!? Then why the hell not?! It amazes me how underrated this woman is. She truly is truly phenomenal! Over the years she has gone through a few image and musical changes but I think with this album 'Joy' she has finally found her real sound. I LOVE this album! It's fresh, feisty and furious - Clearly this girl has been messed around before and in this album she is clearly saying 'Don't mess with me bitches!'

I think my favorite track HAS to be 'Ghost' it's so good. The music video is amazing with all of the jerky dancing and the all of the in your face moments but the song had a great message and it's such a good way to look at the situation she was faced with. She is saying - "Yeah you cheated on me and you're a dick, but in the end you'll be the one hurting not me!" The video is great I would recommended you all to go check it out.

Other tracks I'm loving on this album are: 'Stuttering' - I literally can't get this song out of my head and the music video is again great (if not slightly confusing!) and it's just so catchy. 'Can't Breath' is also great. It's not as rocky or as fast paced but in it she really gets to showcase her vocal talents and it also features a FANTASTIC guitar solo from the amazing Orianthi (for those of you who didn't know, she was set to be one of the guitarists for Micheal Jacksons come back tour so she's a pretty big deal in her own right) But Fefe's voice in that track is really nice she's much softer and the music video a lot more simple but i think it works with the tone of the song. 'You Bitch' is also another beauty of a track, we've all been there and I love songs which are relatable - check it out! Older songs by Fefe which are worth a look up are 'Rockstar', 'Everything' and 'I Want You To Watch Me Move'

Trust me when I say we can expect great things from Fefe. She's gorgeous, has an amazing voice, is really creative and has a kick-ass attitude to boot. I think this is only the very tip of the iceberg with this little fire cracker - watch this space. Fefe is on the rise!

Chris Crocker - The First Bite EP

OK you guys, say what you like about Chris Crocker but he has come a long way from the 'Britney Boy' he once was. His attitude as of late has changed drastically and so has his music. I loved his first song - 'Mind in the gutter' and the follow up 'Fell for the enemy' (which wasn't actually released until much later) and then 'Love you better'. Later he released 'Best of both worlds' which again was a good track, but this new EP - Whoa!

He has really outdone himself. The EP (which is dominating the iTunes chart at the moment) consists of 5 tracks, 2 of which were already released as singles on iTunes - 'Freak of nature' and 'I want your bite' (both of which happen to be personal favorites of mine) and he even made a music video for 'Freak of nature' which was met with mixed reviews (personally I loved it! - He looked fierce with his blonde hair rocking out and rolling around his bed with a whip, being fed strawberries but what I loved the most was when he took his wig off and continued to dance around in the hair net) - This guy is hilarious! Some people just hate on him far too quickly without getting to know him. He is much more that the 'boy that cried over Britney' and he is proving that now with how versatile he is as an artist.

Back to the EP - he has managed to take people on a journey with him through his music. We have 'Fly swat' in which he takes on all his 'haters' and tells of how they are "buzzing like bees but stinging like flies" which we know relates to the amount of people that sit behind a computer screen and hate on him yet in real life they wouldn't say boo to him. Chris has balls! He's far more man than the people that hate on him - even when he's in full hair and makeup! We have 'Freak of nature' Which is such a clubby song, it's all about celebrating how different you are rather than being ashamed of it. For me the whole message of the song is summed up in my favorite line - "Us freaks are endangered species, so let's live it up to the fullest, Live it up - what you got to say?" Then we have the uber sexy 'I want your bite' - for me this is a definite sex song. You know what I mean - the kind of song you have blasting out in the background while you get down and dirty. It's such a catchy song that just screams sex! If this was to come on in a club I'd go crazy! I LOVE it!

The other two songs of the EP 'Enough is enough' and 'One day' are from a completely different angle. This is a side of Chris that only his loyal YouTube followers will know about. These songs describe the heartbreak that he's experienced. He's goes about it such a classy way as well. No bitching just his honest feelings. I LOVE the hook for 'Enough is enough'.

All in all this EP is freaking AMAZING! Even if you're not a fan of Chris (which I find so hard to understand but each to their own right?) you'd still enjoy his music. Each of the 5 tracks takes a different approach and as such I think it proves how versatile he is as an artist. If you like the EP check out his older music - 'Mind in the gutter', 'Fell for the enemy' 'Love you better' (which is in two versions - the studio and an acoustic) and 'Best of both worlds' all of which are available on iTunes.

It does make me feel sad to think of the heartbreak behind some of his songs but judging from this EP i'd say Chris Crocker will be on the music scene for a while to come and what we've seen so far is only the tip of the iceberg so maybe one day he'll be singing a happy love song :) Either way I love you Chris and you have so many loyal fans. People really need to realize that Chris is able to stand up as an icon on his own. Gone are the days of 'Britney boy' this is now the age of the Crocker! Keep doing you're thing Chris. You're a true Crockstar!

Lady Gaga - Born This Way

So yes the wait is over! After months of anticipation Gaga has finally released Born This Way, and boy was it worth the wait! The song is fantastic. The synthy beats are so dancey – perfect for the clubbing scene, and the song itself is really catchy and If you actually listen the lyrics they are so meaningful. The song is all about loving yourself and accepting who you are and being comfortable with it even if other people don’t like it. Be who YOU are and make no apologies for doing so! Gaga is so inspirational to so many and like all of her legions of fans I LOVE her! This song will rock the clubs and I hope it gets the number one it deserves!

The album itself is out in May and the second single ‘Judas’ will be released in March. Can’t wait! What do you think little monsters?

Want more? Why not check out my YouTube video of me discussing the new single :)

Spotlight On: Something Corporate

OK guys so after recommending this band to a new friend, I decided to put on my iPod and have a big Something Corporate session! I must say every time I listen to these guys I’m taken back to being a teenager. From like 14 to 17 these guys were the soundtrack to my life. All I wanted to do was see them live or even be one of them. They were so fresh and I just thought the oozed awesome-ness. My teenage years weren’t the easiest; as I’m sure everyone can appreciate and relate to. Being a teen is hard work right!? But these guys got me through. Music meant just as much to me back then as it does now and to be honest I’m really surprised I haven’t blogged about these guys before as they are pretty much my favourite EVER band and the band that had the most influence on me growing up.

I still now buy any music magazines that feature interviews with them, even one of the recent Alternative Press issues which, due to the fact I live in the UK meant I had to get it on import! But I like to keep an eye on them. They got together for summer 2010 to do a tour but unfortunately it didn’t make it to the UK. However they did release a ‘Greatest Hits’ style album called Played In Space which I of course bought STRAIGH AWAY! There is no point in me telling you which songs of theirs I love most because I truly love them all. Not a single song by them have I ever heard and thought ‘I don’t like this’. So instead I shall just give you some of my ultimate favourites; the ones which I’d recommend to a new person to listen to first, so that they could get a flavour for their music.

The first one I’d always say to check out is Punk Rock Princess. I think this would have to be my all time favourite, the song is all about fitting in and the music video is amazing. It’s a simple video but if you have seen it you’ll know how affective it is. Growing up I felt like I never fit in and the video shows that there is hope and a place that everyone can fit in. I think I must be responsible for half of the views of that video on YouTube. I’d also love to visit a club or venue that is similar to the one in the video. Secondly I’d have to say check out Straw Dog. There is a lyric in this song ‘Even if she gets no-where in life, at least she knows she’s pretty’ which I just think is amazing and obviously again the song itself is FANTASTIC. Others that I could not live without are: Watch The Sky, I Woke Up In A Car, Space, Break Myself, Hurricane, Down, Only Ashes, Ruthless, The Runaway, I Kissed A Drunk Girl, The Astronaut, If U C Jordan, Cavanaugh Park, Last December, Good News, and As You Sleep .

For me this band brings both hope and a sense of direction and gives out the message that there is a place for everyone. Anytime I miss my teen years I blast out these guys and I’m back there, in the heat of summer chilling with good mates back when times were far simpler. Even though growing was sometimes a scary and a hard time this bands influence definitely helped me out and made me the person I am today and for that I am truly grateful!

If you guys love this band as much as I do, then if you didn’t already know the lead singer, Andrew McMahon is also the front man of the band Jack’s Mannequin who I’ve mentioned on here before. Jack’s Mannequin started out as a side project for McMahon but as Something Corporate drifted apart and sadly ended he made this new band his full time one. Trust me they are defiantly worth a look!

New Music Video: Katy Perry - Firework

OK so the music video for Katy Perry's Firework is finally out and it is, without a doubt, fantastic! I've thought for a while now that Katy is getting better and better. I don't know if it is the fact that she is finally finding out what she wants form the musical scene or whether she is now more comfortable in her own skin and style or even if it's her relationship with Russell Brand that has made her so different. But either way I am LOVING this new Katy. She is fantastic, shes never looked or sounded so good. She seems healthy and happy and it's all reflected in her music. Her latest album 'Teenage Dream' is amazing.

Going back to the music video for 'Firework'. This video tackles so many issues that are relevant to today's everyday struggles. It looks at domestic issues, It looks at the stigma attached to illness, It looks at low self esteem issues and also homosexuality. It shows through the lyrics and through the 'fireworks' that sparkle within each of the main protagonists within the video that we all have a spark within us. Katy's message that she projects so perfectly within this song is one of hope. Every character within the video had a situation before them in which they didn't know what to do. They each decided originally to do nothing, to stay quiet, keep their decisions to themselves. But the spark within them made them decide to go ahead and do what they really wanted to do. This is such a great message for any ones life. Do what you can while you can. Don't be scared. You DO have a spark inside of you. Go for it grab at life!

From the outfits to the messages, from Katy looking absolutely beautiful all the way through to the fireworks and the happiness everything about this video is perfect. Katy has really outdone herself this time.

Go download Katy Perry's new album Teenage Dream NOW. It's available in all good music stores and on iTunes.

The Song I'm Loving Right Now: The Search by Setting Fires

I LOVE this song. It's so breathtaking. It's all about life and grabbing at stuff while you can. The lyrics are so uplifting and positive. Their voices are fantastic and on a crap day this song can brighten me up in an instant. Buy the EP on iTunes!! I love the message I get from the song: Live life to the fullest. Laugh untill you can't breath. Love totally and most importantly be fearless! Life only comes to us once. Make yours count.

What I'm Listening To

Ride - Cary Brothers

This is the kind of song i'll listen to while i'm lay in bed at night. I'll have it on in the background while i think about all the things going on at that current time. It sort of a calming song the melody is rather peacefull and i like the soft easy to listen to lyrics and the way they sing is unusual but in a good way. I like a bit of quirky-ness

The Song I'm Obsessed With Right Now: Firework by Katy Perry

OK so anyone else check her out on The X Factor tonight?! She was awesome. I have had this huge crush and fondness for Katy Perry now that hasn't disappeared for ages. I loved her 'California Gurls' single and then when 'Teenage Dream' dropped I was in love from the word go (Or as the case is from the words 'You make me feel like I'm living a teenage dream ...') but now I'm even more in love. Firework is such a major track! It's so upbeat and happy and I saw the trailer/sneak peek for the video on the 15th and it's set to be an amazing video! Of course I've loved Katy since her 'I kissed A Girl' and 'Hot And Cold' days but her new stuff is amazing! I don't know whats happened to her but she is better now than ever, and I get the sense that she's only just getting warmed up!

Spotlight On: Switchfoot

Thought I'd share with you guy a slice of what music is all about. This band here is one of, if not my very favourite band and they go by the name of Switchfoot! This is music! If you've never heard of Switchfoot before there is almost no hope for you now ... however there may still be some time for me to save your soul!!

Switchfoot is an American rock band from San Diego, California and trust me they are amazing guys, it's time to get into them, and if you already are then go re-discover them. They hold so many aspects of music and their songs play on a mix of emotions. You have the happy songs: Hello Hurricane. The sad songs: Your Love Is A Song. And your lovey dovey songs: Always. Their latest album, Hello Hurricane has to be one of my all time favourite albums. Every track is brilliant and Jon Foremans voice ... FANTASTIC! His voice delivers such passion and love for music. You can tell this band just loves what they are doing and I for one love it too. I love the choices they make for their album artwork as well.

My favourite tracks from these guys span across several albums and they are; Meant To Live, Awakening, This Is Home, I Dare You To Move, Always, Your Love Is A Song, The Sound, You and We Are One Tonight.
Check them out on iTunes!

Jeffree Star New Single: I'm In Love (With A Killer)

Well what can I say?! I wasn't expecting anything less than amazing from Jeffree but this track is MAJOR! He is fantastic and I've always been a huge fan but this new track 'I'm In Love (With A Killer)' is so original. Love the beats, the lyrics, his voice and the cover art is so different for a jeffree cover but it totally works. The track was dropped tonight at midnight over in America so being form the UK I waited up for ages just so I could hear it and as always Jeffree being the amazing guy he is was letting people download the track for free!!! So yeah it's already on my iPod.

He really isn't in it for the money, he's in it for his fans, hence why he always gives his fans a free download period. That's someone truly into their art for you. He puts in all that work and then gives away the end product. One word to sum up Jeffree = FIERCE. Well actually there are many words to sum up the amazing Jeffree Star but to save me going on about how cool he is forever we'll go with that! So yeah go to his Facebook or Myspace and follow the links to listen to the track and get your free download!

Cherly Vs. Nadine

OK, so neither of these ladies are my particular type of music (neither are at all Punk and/or disorderly) but I appreciate their music all the same, I also thought they deserved some attention due to their current situation. So it's the battle of Cheryl Cole and Nadine Coyle, who else saw that one coming? Oh yes that's right everyone! So both are members of the UK's biggest girl band since the Spice Girls and One (Cheryl) is the Uk's sweetheart.

Everyone knows her as the newest judge on Xfactor and form all of the shampoo (is it Elvive??) and hairspray adverts and of course she is also known for already having had a sell-out debut album (Produced by Will.I.Am) which she has released several singles from; Fight For This Love, 3 Words and Parachute, but she’s now also released her new single: Promise this (which wasn't featured on her album) and it is this single that is currently locked in battle with her old band mate and friends debut single Insatiable.

Insatiable is Nadine Coyles' attempt at following in the footsteps of old friend Cheryl and carving her own solo career. However Nadine doesn't have anywhere near the amount of exposure over here as Cheryl gets. So how will Nadine fair in comparison? Well many people claim that Nadine was the one that could actually sing. However I think all the Girls Aloud girls could sing well and to all those that say 'Cheryl is an awful singer’ let’s be honest no she isn't! She's not the best admittedly but she can sing, she had to prove that she could sing to get in the band in the first place if you remember! Also she is so hugely popular now that her fans would lap up anything she releases anyway. And she has a great personality. We've all seen how kind and caring she can be on the Xfactor. She has the personality and I think that may be Nadines downfall. No-one really knows Nadine or knows what she's like. I'm thinking most of her single sales will come from the Girls Aloud fan base ...

Upon listening to both the tracks and checking out both of the videos; I have to say that for me Cheryl wins hands down! Her new track is so catchy and is actually a really decent track and the video is interesting, imaginative and she looks great all throughout. However Nadines song is boring in comparison and the music video isn't exactly gripping it's just her walking around with a mic in different places. I'm not that big of a fan of her track but then again I don't represent anyone other than myself. So I wish both girls the best of luck but Cheryl has a special place to me and to many others that no-one else can fill. Check out both tracks; Cheryl Cole - Promise This and Nadine Coyle - Insatiable, see what you think.

I wonder how long it is until all five girls have singles in the charts. What a battle that one would be ...

Diana Vickers New Music Video!

So Miss Diana Vickers' spanking new video for her new single 'My Wicked Heart' was released today and following on from her other videos for Once, and The Boy Who Murdered Love, My Wicked Heart doesn't disappoint. In this new video Diana plays several circus characters, all of which may I just add are incredibly sexy! She plays the ring master, A clown (of sorts in the balloon scene), A mime, A caged leopard and the assistant to a knife thrower. All the time she looks great and the song is SO catchy and is guaranteed to be another big hit. It is available for digital download form the 7th of November!

What I'm Listening To

99 Times - Kate Voegele

This is an amazing kick ass song by the incredibly talented Miss Kate Voegele. It is one of them songs you can listen to when you are angry and it channels your negative emotions into something useful. The message behind it is that someone who has pissed you about loads before and lied to you isn't worth your time anymore and that you will move on to bigger and better things and then when you are gone they'll regret the way they have treated you but it'll be too late. I love songs that are like this I call them 'strong songs' because they empower you when you listen to them.
Check out all of her songs, all of which are ace! She has two albums out: Don't Look Away and A Fine Mess, both of which are avaliable on iTunes!!

Songs To set Your Life To: Leaving Town by Dexter Freebish

Now this song is a definite ‘Song to set your life to’. It perfectly sums up the exact situation I am in at the moment and I’m sure will, in part always stay with me.

This song describes someone’s deep desire to leave the safety and boredom of their home town in order to pursue their dreams in the big wide world, to become someone and describes their difficulties along the journey.

It shows how some people fall short, and how even those that do make it realise that they miss the safety of their hometown, and realise it was never boring just familiar. When I’m at uni although I love it and the people there I miss my home town. Coming back on the coach or in the car with my dad when the surroundings start getting familiar on my way back into town I find so many things that remind me of my old life before I went to uni. I miss my childhood memories but like the song says home will always be there and I can come running back when ever I’m in need and it’ll always be there waiting to comfort me. Familiar places. Fond memories and old friends!

I also love the soothing beat and the tune of this song as well as the genius and meaningful lyrics. I totally recommend this song and this band.

So yeah this is totally a ‘Song to set your life to’

Spotlight On: Dashboard Confessional

So has anybody else noticed how amazing these guys are. I swear with each passing album they are getting better and better. Obviously if you know me you would know that I have been a big fan of these guys ever since their 'The Swiss Army Romance' days and I think near enough every single one of their albums have been amazing. I love their meaningful songs about real emotions and feelings. I love the intricate and effectiveness of their music and I love their passion. I loved 'The Places You Have Come To Fear The Most' and 'A Mark, A Mission, A Brand, A Scar' but, for me it is their more recent, more upbeat tracks that are their best. So this is going to be a total cheat as I am going to be talking about their past three albums in this one review. Like I said I've loved all their albums but their most recent ones hold a special place very dear to me.

So it seems the days of the more bleak emo songs such as 'Screaming Infidelities' and 'Again I Go Unnoticed' are long gone and the guys, headed by lead singer Chris Carrabba are moving into more epic upbeat songs. 'Dusk And Summer', 'The Shade Of Poison Trees' and 'Alter The Ending' are all in my favourite albums pile and I was thinking in what order would I put them in and I can't because I keep changing my mind! However my fave ever Dashboard album has to be 'Dusk and Summer' So I'll Start There.

This album for me was where I noticed the guys were changing direction with their music. The older dreary (but still amazing) songs were starting to be replaced with much more 'on the surface' happy tracks. I'm not in anyway opposed to a sad track, like I've said I love all of their songs, I just think their newer stuff is fantastic. I absolutely love the 'Dusk And Summer' tracks: 'Currents', 'Stolen', 'Slow Decay', 'Heaven Is Here', 'Vindicated' and 'Rooftops and Invitations'. each song has such meaningful and great lyrics. Each line is sung with real passion and emotion and Chris really is fantastic in his delivery! Obviously the track aren't all 'feel good, happy' tracks but the music is far more upbeat and positive.

'The Shade Of Poison Trees' album takes an even bigger step away from their usual style and this album is far more peaceful. The songs remind me of summers nights and calm. 'Clean Breaks', 'Where There's Gold ...', 'The Widows Peak' are all calmer than a lot of their old songs and are a blend of positive and negative lyrics. The words really make you think and I think that is one of the most important things music can do, make you think. I don't know how but it seems that Chris' voice had got even better with some of the notes he is hitting in this album!

Finally their most recent album 'Alter The Ending' is fantastic. (However I couldn't seem to find it anywhere here in the UK, thank god for imports right?!) Their music and song development have now somehow managed to surpass everything they have already managed to achieve. The tracks seem far more natural. Each with positive messages and well planned lyrics. 'The Belle Of The Boulevard' is one of my all time favourite tracks, and 'Everybody Learns From Disasters' is a song everyone can take meaning from. 'The Motions' is another favourite of mine.

If you like Dashboard Confessional but haven't checked them out recently they why not check out these recent albums. I promise you won't regret it! Check them out on iTunes (although last time i checked 'Alter The Ending' isn't available on UK iTunes :( but you can get it on import like i did. Obviously I urge you to check out their older stuff as well if you haven't heard of them before but my personal favourite are their more current albums!
