Spotlight On: Fefe Dobson

OK guys here's one for you, have you heard of Fefe Dobson? No!? Then why the hell not?! It amazes me how underrated this woman is. She truly is truly phenomenal! Over the years she has gone through a few image and musical changes but I think with this album 'Joy' she has finally found her real sound. I LOVE this album! It's fresh, feisty and furious - Clearly this girl has been messed around before and in this album she is clearly saying 'Don't mess with me bitches!'

I think my favorite track HAS to be 'Ghost' it's so good. The music video is amazing with all of the jerky dancing and the all of the in your face moments but the song had a great message and it's such a good way to look at the situation she was faced with. She is saying - "Yeah you cheated on me and you're a dick, but in the end you'll be the one hurting not me!" The video is great I would recommended you all to go check it out.

Other tracks I'm loving on this album are: 'Stuttering' - I literally can't get this song out of my head and the music video is again great (if not slightly confusing!) and it's just so catchy. 'Can't Breath' is also great. It's not as rocky or as fast paced but in it she really gets to showcase her vocal talents and it also features a FANTASTIC guitar solo from the amazing Orianthi (for those of you who didn't know, she was set to be one of the guitarists for Micheal Jacksons come back tour so she's a pretty big deal in her own right) But Fefe's voice in that track is really nice she's much softer and the music video a lot more simple but i think it works with the tone of the song. 'You Bitch' is also another beauty of a track, we've all been there and I love songs which are relatable - check it out! Older songs by Fefe which are worth a look up are 'Rockstar', 'Everything' and 'I Want You To Watch Me Move'

Trust me when I say we can expect great things from Fefe. She's gorgeous, has an amazing voice, is really creative and has a kick-ass attitude to boot. I think this is only the very tip of the iceberg with this little fire cracker - watch this space. Fefe is on the rise!

Spotlight On: Bethany Joy Galeotti

Now I think you all know by now that music is more than a simple beat and a catchy tune to me. To me music is pain, it’s happiness, it’s anger, it’s sadness and most of all it’s hope. A single song can change my mood in an instant. For me it is the best anit-depressant. I can be in the worst of moods and with the tap of the button on my iPod I can be somewhere else, or even someone else.

One artist in particular that makes me feel free and makes me feel like the world has no boundaries is none other than the wonderful and beautiful and extremely talented Bethany Joy Galeotti. She is best known for her role as Hayley James-Scott on what must be myfavourite TV show; One Tree Hill. Watching One Tree Hill is how I discovered this amazing woman.

She is a great actress, she is abeautiful woman but above all her voice is incredible. She has the ability to sing a song with such passion and grace that she gives me a tight feeling in my stomach. She is truly a rare talent with such adifferent and lovely voice. Her music is widely country influenced and her song lyrics are full of meaning and power.

As a solo artist she has released some great songs including; Halo, Feel This, and an amazing cover of When The Stars Go Blue (originally by Ryan Adams) on which she collaborated with One Tree Hillco-star Tyler Hilton aka ‘Chris Keller’. And a 50’s themed song Hotel Cafe which she then altered to fit an episode of one tree hill in which the return to the 40’s and renamed it Karen’s’ Cafe.

She is currently in a two piece band named Everly with her friend and co-singer Amber Sweeney. Together the twosome have released a steady stream of amazing songs such as; Maybe, Quicksand, The Girl In The Moon and what can only be described as a fantastic cover of the old 80’s hit track We Belong, originally by Pat Benatar, on which Joy has done an excellent job with amazing vocals and such passion.

The thing I love most besides her voice is her pure determination. Joy faced lots of grief trying to release her songs that appeared on the show and decided to release them anyway and she then formed Everly so she wouldn’t face anymore hassle. And am I glad she did. This woman I am convinced has saved me many times with her music. She is a wonderful talent and someone I look up to majorly.

Check out her music. Download it. Love it!
